The way I see it is that Slayer itself isn't the money maker, but lets you access/kill the monsters that are good money makers when killed in bulk, such as Gargoyles, Brutal Black Dragons and to a lesser extent Kurasks at lower levels.

Take gargoyles for instance, drop lots of things like addy pieces rune 2h swords, rune platelegs etc. so you would bring high alchemy runes with you to turn those drops into cash. But they also drop noted items that are good for money, things like steel bars, straight cash drops, mith bars etc.

A Slayer helmet is a piece of headgear made by combining a nose peg, facemask, earmuffs, spiny helmet, enchanted gem, and a black mask together. Reinforced goggles are additionally required only if the quest A Porcine of Interest is completed. Slayer reward points can be traded in to any Slayer Master for various rewards. Players can cancel or block tasks at the cost of slayer reward points. A total of 9,580 points are required in order to obtain all the rewards and blocks at least once.
Duradel is hands down the best slayer master to use when looking to make money from Slayer. Konar can be a bit annoying as her tasks are location-based but the monster do drop brimstone keys which do increase your hourly loot by a lot.
