Since the implementation of NPM reforms, public hospitals have been provided with performance management tools aimed at fostering their processes in terms of productivity and efficiency in delivering acute care and ambulatory services [6, 23, 24].
This paper provides some insights about recent trends in the reform of public hospitals, with an emphasis on organizational changes such as increased management autonomy, corporatization, and privatization.
