In order to understand the relevance of tattoos for art therapy, this study aimed to understand the underlying motivations for obtaining or not obtaining a tattoo, as well as the relationship between personal narratives and symbol choice.
There are as many reasons for getting a tattoo as there are people who choose it: it can be an expression of personality, of diversity, a reminder of an important event or person, or simply an ornament; the choice of body part where the tattoo is applied also has a different meaning for everyone.
