Under Act 15 of 2015 (the Act), which amends the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, volunteers who are responsible for the child’s welfare or who have “direct volunteer contact” with children at a school— meaning the care, supervision, guidance, or control of children and routine interaction with children will be required to have background checks.

In compliance with the recently enacted Child Protective Services Law, Pennsylvania now requires PA State Police (PSP) Criminal Record Check and PA Child Abuse History Clearance for all personnel volunteering with or working with children.
Volunteers who have lived in PA for at least the past ten consecutive years may complete the New Birth of Freedom Council Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers in place of the FBI Fingerprint-Based Record Check.
