The only way to get 7.1 audio from the PS4 is to plug the PS4 directly into the soundbar, it should have a HDMI pass-through port which according to the specifications is 4K compatible, then set PCM as the audio output that should ensure you get 7.1 audio wherever possible.

My set up is ps4 pro connected to TV and TV to the speakers via ARC HDMI. With the set up like this choosing PCM does force the sound to stereo for some reason but choosing bitstream will send a surround sound to the receiver via TV ARC.
1 gru 2013 · In this case, you have a real choice to make, lossless 2.0 audio (PCM), or lossy 5.1 audio* (Dolby Digital and DTS). I'd go with the lossy 5.1 option (DTS if your AVR supports it.) Hopefully you are hooking up to your AVR via HDMI. In that case, leave the game audio set to PCM.
