The super Slims seem a bit less reliable to me because of the inverse to what I wrote above. It's Sony now packing everything they can into the smallest, cheapest product possible to add a last bit of sales interest and profit while building a PS3 is cheaper than ever.

That’s a short capacitor on the board. A good tech can figure it out and replace the shorted cap. But honestly, I would save the slim for whenever you decide to get a bc and swap the 40nm/65nm Rsx.
