With my first attempt on the PS4 playing a video via USB, I've noticed that the PS4 did not find the video (which is an MP4). Is there any software that the community has found that works well in converting videos for playback on PS4 while maintaining a reasonably good quality?
When I tell my friends or family that the PS4 can play media on discs, but not a CD, they think I'm joking. The fact it took as long as it did for the console to play MP3s was bad enough, especially when it was assuredly due to Sony pushing us to their music streaming services.

A PlayStation 4 can play music from a USB drive when inserted directly into one of the console’s ports. Before using this method to access files from a CD, you’ll need to ensure that the drive is formatted with FAT32 or exFAT. No other formatting option is recognized by the PS4 system.
Not an audiophile, but my dad is and he uses my old psx as his cd player. He came across a cheap Oppo player (not special edition) and that player blows away the PSX. So much for being that great. I can't wait till he finds the special edition with a ESS Saber DAC. Thats near the top for cd audio.

Like the Roku and Chromecast, Sony's PlayStation 4 can play video and music files from a USB drive or another computer on your network. Your PS4 can even play local music files in the background while you play a game.
