23 mar 2008 · As stated above it strongly appears that the BD drive uses PATA, just not with the same connector. It needs an adapter to be able to be used in an IDE port on a PC, that much is obvious. And the power cable would need an adapter also, not incredibly difficult (not as difficult as the IDE adapter).
6 wrz 2021 · In most cases, you will have a firm answer that yes you can use PS3 Blu-ray drive in PC devices. The majority group of personal desk computers and PS3 Blu-ray drive can share the same ports and their cables will fit while the PS3 Blu-ray drive has the same size as normal PC DVD drives.
6 lis 2014 · If I remember correctly, the PS3 uses a proprietary PATA connection, so you might have to redo some pins on a old PATA ribbon cable. You would also need a motherboard with PATA support of course. I second the decision on using it as a media center. It can do Netflix and it can play Blu-Ray movies.

You know that there are some BD drives that read the PS3 discs, and you don't need special tools and software to dump (decrypt) those games on PC. Simply open and copy the file content of the PS3 disc to a folder and try to run the bin file on RPCS3.
You can take the PS3 Blu-ray disk drive and insert it into a drive bay inside of a Mac desktop or PC desktop or Tower because it is the same size as the DVD drives that the computers use. You will need only a few hardware tools to do this.
