If you see yourself downloading PSN games or movies, then a larger hard drive is warranted. Furthermore Sony sees the PS3 having an eight to ten year lifespan.
16 lip 2008 · It may actually be cheaper for Sony to source 80 GB drives (who makes 40 GB drives any more for mainstream use?), which I'd say is a more likely explanation than Sony trying to satisfy the needs of their customers. 80 gig, as mentioned above, is hardly a huge amount of storage space these days.
Upgrading the HDD physically is trivial but moving the data from the old HDD to the new is a pain and is marginally easier if you have 2 PS3's (ok, its really easy but takes a lot of time). If you go as big as you can from the start you may save yourself some time & effort in the future.
