24 kwi 2018 · Results of a recent extended study of prolapse surgery showed that in 60% of women, two common procedures failed within 5 years, but patients still reported a higher quality of life than before the surgery.
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is common, and women have an estimated 12–19% lifetime risk for needing POP surgery. Aims were to measure re-operation rates up to 10 years after POP surgery and patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) 5 years after a first-time operation for POP.
Moderate quality evidence from four RCT (n=513) showed no clinically important difference between standard repair and mesh surgery in cure rates at 12 months for posterior prolapse, RR 0.90 (95% CI 0.77 to 1.04).

16 lut 2005 · We can conclude that the operative correction of pelvic organ prolapse in women over 80 years of age is in majority successful with an acceptable morbidity and a high satisfaction rate. No women should be denied surgery on the basis of age alone.
