Acting pro se, Floyd sued his former employer for racial discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The defendant’s lawyer filed a motion to dismiss (later converted to a motion for summary judgement) claiming that Floyd’s cause of action was time-barred.
In August 2016, defendant indicated he wanted to proceed pro se.
