I tend towards the P-665 unless I know I'm going to use a lot of it for a one-off, then I go with BMI's store brand tape. For colored spike, my suppliers just carry Pro-Gaff, but I also use P-661 for glow in the dark.

Budget pick - I have found Pro Gaff to be the best bang for the buck out there. While there are definitely cheaper options, they don't perform nearly as well.
3m is my fav but the most expensive, I use it for small or higher importance jobs and pro gaff for the rest. I avoid it if I can. Pro Graff if the situation actually requires gaff tape. I am primarily a gaffer and these are my preferences as well. I use ProGaf and ShurTape interchangeably.
