20 gru 2023 · Gaffer tape is a high strength, high performance tape with a coated cotton cloth backing and a rubber based adhesive. It is highly conformable, hand-tearable, abrasion resistant, heat resistant (usually up to 180-200ºF), weather resistant, and removes cleanly from most surfaces.
It's been pretty great, but it's for our use: the renters almost never see it. They get Progaff if they need it. We had one renter who used up 3 full rolls of our 3" black cloth tape (which we'd normally use for taping down cables, with 3 rolls being enough for the season) as black masking on exposed lumber.

3m is my fav but the most expensive, I use it for small or higher importance jobs and pro gaff for the rest. I avoid it if I can. Pro Graff if the situation actually requires gaff tape. I am primarily a gaffer and these are my preferences as well. I use ProGaf and ShurTape interchangeably.
Pro gaff is my favorite. Polyken is okay but it’s hard to tear off the roll. Apollo leaves residue on cables and is too hard to tear. Gaffer power is no good.
Pro Gaff rolls are 55 yards. Fake Gaff is often 30 yards. Check the roll length & check out this video before you buy.
