Therefore the 2022 prison data cover the 2022 calendar year, while the jail data cover the 12-month period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022. ↩.

The counts below include all prisoners under the jurisdiction of state and federal correctional authorities and those sentenced to more than 1 year under the same authorities.
