It started development in 1996 and was set to be released in 1997, but the game was cancelled due to the shrinking popularity of arcades. The game would feature avatars of the gods as playable characters.

26 wrz 2024 · A dragon-like boss, which was rumored to be implemented in a future release of the original Primal Rage, was the main antagonist. Though the game never came to be, the story was later adapted into a novel called Primal Rage The Avatars.
6 gru 2023 · Here you will see that in this MAME emulator (this is version 0.257), there are two different Primal Rage ROMS. The whole story is long, but basically at one point the original Primal Rage 2.3 ROM became Lost Media and no one could find it or recover it when it was lost, until a "New Rom" came out.
