20 paź 2016 · Im going to a straight cut planetary set, looks like my options are around 1.80 or 1.69 1st gear ratios. Do I take some more starting line ratio, or help my rpm drop on the 1-2 shift. I am using a hydraulic roller so im RPM limited and cant go any more than the 3.55's Im using now in the rear.

11 lut 2024 · I'm getting ready to order the cam gears for 2176 build. I will be running a web 218 cam and panchito heads with the single springs. Should i go with the straight cut gears or will the helical gears also work with this combo? Tks

27 mar 2008 · Your straight cut gears are mucho stronger than the stock 1.82 gears. The stock ones are junk on anything over 250 horses for very long. The optimum ratio for aftermarket gears is 1.80 for those who want that. The stock 1.76 are pretty strong too.
The main advantage of using straight-cut gears is that they produce no axial load. This ‘thrust force’ is generated by the sliding contact between the teeth of helical gears. This lateral force is applied to the input shaft of the gearbox, which in front-wheel drive configurations will then convert through to the driveshafts.
