8 mar 2023 · This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of 20 mg of Cuban policosanol in blood pressure (BP) and lipid/lipoprotein parameters of healthy Japanese subjects via a placebo-controlled, randomized, and double-blinded human trial.
The results suggest that long-term policosanol consumption simultaneously reduces both peripheral BP and aortic BP accompanied by elevation of HDL-C and % HDL-C in TC in a dose-dependent manner. Figures
The numerous double-blind clinical trials carried out by Cuban researchers showed that, in daily oral doses ranging from 5 to 20 mg, policosanol decreases LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) by 10% in normoc-holesterolaemic patients (baseline LDL-C 114 ± 28 mg/dl) and by 20–25% in hypercholesterolaemic patients (base-line LDL-C 188–214 mg/dl).
