The 3 must-haves are Infernape, Garchomp and Staraptor as the're the uncontested best pokemon in their typing. The rest of the team you can build around this base-line and honestly just go with your personal preferences, are there's just so many great encounters.
Pretty decent, but honestly I would swap out staraptor for a togekiss (if this team was for platinum), as not only is togekiss bulky, but also good with special attack stats, and has a much better move pool.
