Generation IV (Japanese: 第四 だいよ 世代 せだい, Hepburn: Dai Yon-sedai) is the fourth installment of the Pokémon franchise. The Generation IV games introduced a number of advancements including new Pokémon, moves, mechanics and gameplay features. Chronologically, Diamond, Pearl and Platinum take place around the same time as Generation II.
