In my opinion it's a good new way to experience old pokemon games. Also in spring jhoto will come out and currently there are a lot of people playing the game, so it's very lively. it's literally better than any vanilla option from Nintendo. plus you're not giving Nintendo money so double benefits.
Well, Pokemon having moves from other regions, bring Pokemon from new regions to older ones, and the more interesting difficulty makes it pretty worth it to me. Definitely worth getting into if you are a fan of Pokemon. Four gens worth of gameplay packed into one game.
