Yeah, western Europe is a no go. The huge Pleistocene Park you mentioned would be ideal but seems a way off yet. I know the Zimovs have established Wild Field wilderness reserve south of Moscow, though that's more of a public outreach thing than a strictly scientific rewilding reserve.
