The big things I've heard that should be done are disassembling the console to clean out dust and reapply the thermal paste. I've also heard about fan upgrades and "good" power supply. Seeing as this console is 12 years old, I'm certain there's maintenance I need to do already.
29 lis 2014 · I'd suggest that size specifically to eliminate any problems with higher capacity drives. the ps3 should be good with most, if not any, 1TB hdd 9.5mm in height, but all hdds should be that size or smaller in height these days. Charles_n_town, Today at 3:07 PM. #2. 571.
The biggest issue with an actual PS2 is that your best audio/video option is probably component cables plus RCA audio. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_video in case you're unfamiliar. Could be a dealbreaker if your TV setup doesn't have the connections.

NECs aren't broken in vast majority of consoles, on my sample size I found that they fail when console has never been cleaned and serviced (ultra dirty and from a smoker VER-001 - 4k hours, RSX NEC fail), but simple dedusting might prolong their life to over 10k hours (and still counting - DIA-002).
I recently picked up a PS3 Phat (CECHA01) with the YLOD. It has the COK-001 board. It had never been opened or serviced until now. I disassembled it and connected the UART to it to read the syscon errors. When I flip the switch on the power supply, I'm not getting any standby power (no red light on the control board).
25 wrz 2024 · If i were to use a PS3 cecha01 quite regularly like once per day, what is the chance it breaks or requires cleaning/maintenance? I remember reading about lots of issues not booting up, getting super hot, etc. but its been awhile. Any information or experience with these models would be great!
