This is a step-by-step guide on how to set up the PlayOnline Viewer after a fresh install of the software. Start by launching the PlayOnline Viewer, which will bring up this screen:
PlayOnline will start checking and updating files. This can take 2-4 hours depending on your computer speed and internet connection. Once everything is updated, exit PlayOnline. The last step is copying the PlayOnline Viewer’s data folder into the FFXI folder.
Now that the game is installed, open up the start menu and navigate to the "PlayOnline" folder. **Note that in this section you have the "PlayOnline Viewer Config" and "Final Fantasy XI Config" which will allow you to set various settings which you may need.
INSTALLATION. After downloading the Free Trial client, first install the PlayOnline viewer (“PlayOnline setup.exe” in the PlayOnline folder) and then FFXI (“FFXI setup.exe” in the INST1 folder). You can then run either “FINAL FANTASY XI.exe” or “PlayOnline.exe”.
Open the PlayOnline Viewer. Click on the member account you wish to use. It will list the SQUARE ENIX ID. NOTE: If you have a Member Password set, you will need to enter it now. * If you encounter the error that states "Incorrect Password," please follow the directions here. Select the Log In option.
