Defective Hardware. If the power adapter continues to not charge the device, reset the hardware. Press and hold down power button firmly for 10 seconds until the device powers down. Wait a minute, and then turn the device back on.
The only thing that worked for me was to hold the volume up + sleep wake button (on the side of the pixel-book) and then press the three line button. Hope this helps someone else who may have this problem in the future.

However, it won't turn on, and the keyboard backlight is flashing on randomly (every second or so, sporadically). Anyone else experienced this before? I tried holding power for about 30 seconds with no luck.
