In 1812, he came to Ohio, settling in Pike Tp., Stark Co., on a farm of 160 acres, which was covered with a dense forest; he cleared the farm, and lived on the same up to the time of his death. He was a man universally esteemed for his sterling integrity and honesty.
Stark County was established February 13, 1808, and organized in January, 1809. It was named from Gen. John Stark, an officer of the revolution, who was born in Londonderry, New Hampshire, in 1728, and died in 1822.
