The business is spread out over four farm locations and raises about 35,000 pigs a year from birth to market. He no longer raises hogs on contract; instead, he owns the livestock himself and sells hogs ready for market to an independent pork company near Philadelphia.
Ross Mill is a beautiful working farm (built in 1740) that boards pet pigs when their owners are away, takes in pigs for adoptions, and does just about every other kind of pig advocacy. Plenty of house pigs wander the farm freely, just like I was told and was delighted to see as we drove up.
Ross Mill Farm is very active within the community, educating the public about potbellied pigs and their care, as well as spreading valid information about the myth of “tea cup pigs”. We do many pet-expo appearances, as well as Kiss-a-Pig events at local schools and business functions.
