I'm needing to include a file from the parent directory, and other sub-directories, into a sub-directory. I've done it before by simply using include ('/rootdirectory/file.php'); but now it won't seem to work. Just wondering how I can do this, thanks. Here's my exact line: include('/forums/groups.php');

If the file isn't found in the include_path, include will finally check in the calling script's own directory and the current working directory before failing. The include construct will emit an E_WARNING if it cannot find a file; this is different behavior from require, which will emit an E_ERROR.
