Interpretation of results. After proper incubation growth of bacteria will appear as colonies on the surface of agar plates. Gram-positive bacteria demonstrate good growth while most gram-negative bacteria do not grow or are partially inhibited. PEA agar plates with 5% sheep blood incubated at 48 hours at 35°C Left: Escherichia coli.
Interpretation of results. After proper incubation, growth of isolated colonies or a group of colonies may be observed. Gram-positive bacteria demonstrate good growth (Fig. 1c and 2c) while most gram-negative bacteria do not grow or are partially inhibited (Fig. 1b and 2b). FIG. 1.
1 lis 2011 · Phenylethyl alcohol (PEA) agar allows growth of gram-positive organisms, particularly cocci, while inhibiting most gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Specifically, PEA agar is a selective medium that is used for the isolation of gram-positive Staphylococcus species and Streptococcus species from clinical specimens or specimens that contain ...
5 lip 2024 · Phenylethyl alcohol agar (PEA) is a specialized growth medium extensively used in microbiology. Its importance lies in its ability to selectively isolate certain types of bacteria while inhibiting others, which makes it a vital tool for clinical and research laboratories.
Each lot number of Phenylethyl Alcohol Agar (PEA) has been manufactured, packaged, and processed in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations. All lot numbers have been tested using the following quality control organisms and have been found to be acceptable.
15 maj 2024 · Interpretation of results. The colonies will form on the agar plates after proper incubation. While Gram-positive bacteria can grow well, most gram-negative bacteria cannot or are only partially inhibited. PEA agar plates with 5% sheep blood incubated at 48 hours at 35°C Left: Escherichia coli. Right: Staphylococcus aureus Image source ...
19 paź 2017 · Phenylethyl Alcohol Blood Agar (PEA) is an enriched selective medium used for the inhibition of facultative gram-negative rods and to inhibit the swarming of certain Clostridium species and Proteus species from clinical specimens.
