Petioles are important plant organs connecting stems with leaf blades and affecting light-harvesting ability of the leaf as well as transport of water, nutrients and biochemical signals. Despite the high diversity in petiole size, shape and anatomy, ...
The petiole is a stalk that attaches a leaf to the plant stem. In petiolate leaves the leaf stalk may be long (as in the leaves of celery and rhubarb), or short (for example basil). When completely absent, the blade attaches directly to the stem and is said to be sessile.

17 gru 2016 · Since leaves are responsible for fueling plants through photosynthesis, the petiole serves to transport the energy made in the leaf to the rest of the plant. It also serves to transport nutrients and water that are absorbed by the roots and passed up through the xylem, to the leaf.
The celery plant is characterized by enlarged, tender, edible petioles or leaf stalks. The petioles are broad, with sheathing bases, and consist mostly of parenchyma and collenchyma strands. These are associated with vascular bundles under the epidermis in the abaxial surface which is prominently ridged, whereas the adaxial surface is smooth.
21 lis 2023 · A petiole is a structure of a plant that connects the stem of the plant to the blade of the leaf. An example of a petiole is the stem-like structure that is sometimes attached to leaves when they...
7 lut 2022 · This study explored the dynamic process of leaf vibration and changes in steady‐state leaf inclination angles after raindrop impact for three species ( Acer saccharinum , Quercus gambelii ,...
