17 gru 2016 · We call the leaves that are connected to the stem through a simple petiole petiolates. In some cases, leaves are attached to the stem without a petiole, so we call them sessile . Petioles themselves can also have differences.
The petiole is a stalk that attaches a leaf to the plant stem. In petiolate leaves the leaf stalk may be long (as in the leaves of celery and rhubarb), or short (for example basil). When completely absent, the blade attaches directly to the stem and is said to be sessile.
21 lis 2023 · Leaves that attach with a petiole are known as petiolate, whereas leaves with blades that attach directly to the stem are called sessile leaves. Petioles have several functions .
Most leaves have a stem that attaches the blade of the leaf to the rest of the plant. This is the petiole. However, in some plants, the leaves do not have a petiole and the blade is directly attached to the plant stem. These leaves are sessile (lacking a petiole).
7 lut 2022 · In our observations, we identified five different petiole outlines: circular, with indentation (terete petiole), flattened horizontally, flattened vertically and polygonal. We found that those with an indentation and polygonal outline tend to occur in longer petioles from taller trees, while circular outlines tend to be more frequent in shorter ...
2 kwi 2021 · The petioles in particular must fulfil two important functions: (1) sustain their own weight and that of the lamina against gravity and (2) provide enough mechanical stability to withstand bending and twisting while being flexible enough not to be damaged [5, 6, 8, 9].
