Kelantan bergabung ke dalam Persekutuan Tanah Melayu pada 1 Februari 1948, dan mendapat kemerdekaan sama dengan negeri-negeri lain pada 31 Ogos 1957. Pada 16 September 1963, Kelantan secara rasminya menjadi salah satu negeri dalam Malaysia.
