  2. Welcome to Nevada PERS! The Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada plays an important role in the long-term economic security of the state’s public employees, which includes teachers, police officers, firefighters, city, county, and State of Nevada employees, among others.

  3. Those hired on or after July 1, 1985, may earn a maximum of 75% of their average compensation when they retire. The percentage is calculated for each member based on the years, months and days of service they earn while employed with a Nevada public employer in a PERS eligible position.

  4. Benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance program; twelve paid holidays a year, three weeks of annual leave; three weeks of sick leave; State retirement system (PERS); a tax sheltered deferred compensation plan available.

  5. PERS offers a safe and secure defined benefit program that guarantees life-time retirement benefits to eligible members. PERS was created by the NV Legisla-ture in 1947 and we have grown to serve over 100,000 members and 47,000 benefit recipients. A 7-member Board of Trustees governs the system
