The Lancet reportedly pays for peer review "sometimes". Reviewers for journals published by the American Economic Association earn $100 for each "timely" review. Zentralblatt MATH (zbMATH) pays 2.56 EUR per review, although this is for post-publication reviews that are then published.
23 kwi 2022 · Paying for reviews could increase the pool of reviewers, particularly reaching researchers who cannot afford to work for free. Payment could also increase the motivation to review, encourage increased speed and reviews of improved quality, and might even tap into the pool of retired researchers.
23 lip 2014 · With no subscription, glancing at the full text of any 1 article costs anywhere from $20 to $60. For any one project or paper I'd use at least five to ten papers and I'd skim over the full text of many more.
