2 wrz 2019 · I've owned several different models of Pedersoli Sharps rifles. One thing they all had in common regardless of the price of the model is that they all shot very, very well. They are capable of MOA accuracy, at least on the days that I was. I think they are one of the better value firearms on the market today.
28 sty 2020 · Just purchased a 1874 Dixie Gun Works Pedersoli 40-65 Silhouette sharps with a 30” barrel 1:16 Twist rate. Nice gun fit and finish is good. Took it out yesterday to shoot it, only had 5 rounds, my Lyman powder dispenser developed a mind of it’s own and started throwing heavier charges than it was set for.
9 paź 2013 · The 40-65 shoots bullets with a similar BC and SD as a 45-70 without being as heavy. This helps keep the recoil lighter than a 45-70, but still being capable of taking down the 500yd rams. "In hind sight, we would have faired better armed with .32 Specials."
19 sie 2023 · That's a good looking Sharps and the Pedersolis have a good history of pretty accurate barrels. I'm a big fan of any single shot in .40 caliber, and have four in .40-65, one of my favorites of the various .40's.
The .40-65 WCF was a 14:1 twist and the .40-60 Maynard was a 16:1 twist. Both shot the same at short yardage but the Paul Jones performed considerably better at 300 to 550 yards (both rifle barrels). Rifles have a tight throat and I could not get more powder in by pushing the bullet out.
Among the Sharps 1874 models you can find the Sporting model with octagonal blued barrel, adjustable front sight and double set trigger. The Infantry and Cavalry models have a fixed front sight and round barrel retained by steel bands. Infantry model has a patchbox in the stock while the Sniper model is equipped with double set trigger.
20 paź 2017 · Many years age I bought a Pedersoli Billy Dixon 45-90, it's a great rifle! Well built and very accurate, I only shoot it with my hand cast bullets over Goex Cartrige (or 2F) black powder. good on commanches to 1200 yards? .40-65 seems like it would be very expensive to feed. Anyone know of reasonably priced sources of brass?
