Exams. Welcome to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences website. We license LMFTs, LCSWs,LEPs, and LPCCs. We register Associate Marriage and Family Therapists, Associate Clinical Social Workers, Associate Professional Clinical Counselors, CE Providers and MFT Referral Services.
The LMFT Clinical Examination is one of two exams required to be passed for LMFT licensure in California. The exam is administered by the testing vendor, Pearson Vue. To be eligible, your Application for Licensure must be approved, and you must pass the LMFT California Law and Ethics Exam.
Important Information. The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Clinical Examination is one of two exams required to be passed for LCSW licensure in California. The exam is administered by ASWB. Licensure by Examination. Applicants must take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN®) if they have never taken and passed the examination or been licensed as a registered nurse in another state or U.S. territory.
