The first PCC pavement in the U.S. was constructed in 1891 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. This pavement was only 3.0 m wide and 67.1 m long (probably what we would call a “test section” today). In 1909, in Wayne County, Michigan, a PCC highway system was constructed.
HIPERPAV, a software program, can be used to predict early-age PCC behavior. Although there are many different PCC tests, only those typically used on pavement PCC are discussed in this Guide.
Almost all rigid pavement is made with Portland Cement Concrete (PCC). Rigid pavements are differentiated into three major categories by their means of crack control: Jointed plain concrete pavement (JPCP) This is the most common type of rigid pavement.
The appendices to the two-volume report provide additional detail, understanding, and history on HMA/PCC and PCC/PCC pavements. The project that produced this report also produced SHRP 2 Report S2-R21-RW-1: 2008 Survey of European Composite Pavements.
The Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) database provides data suitable for developing predictive models for Portland cement concrete (PCC) materials, stabilized materials, and unbound materials, as well as other design-related inputs for the MEPDG.
Appendix A1 includes HMA and PCC pavement performance criteria summarizing the range of common indicators, measurements, potential causes, and fixes applicable to pavement warranty types based on the Distress Identification Manual for the Long-Term Pavement Performance Program (Miller and Bellinger, 2003) and other sources (Washington State DOT ...
This report documents recommendations for the design and construction of portland cement concrete (PCC) pavements. The recommendations were derived from the analysis of Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) data.
