Better to use corresponding masalas for the dish you want to make (tandoori masala for tandoori dishes), but you can use garam masala in addition (to boost flavor), or to replace the masala you don't have (with mixed results).
I'm curious as to which Patak's products are favorites of people who are familiar with authentic Indian food. I love the Hot Mango Relish and Balti Curry Paste, but I've also had some I didn't care for. I'm going shopping at the Indian market tomorrow-- which ones do you recommend?
