I'm practicing UX design and am in the process of doing a small case study re-designing the software a bit on some fronts and designing a mobile counterpart if it were to exist (if you opened PastPerfect web edition on your phone you'd understand).
Past Perfect is a pretty standard collections Management System for small museums. I personally find the interface pretty easy to use. It has seprate catalogs for objects, archives, photos and books.
There honestly is no such thing as “best” since every database has its pros and cons the others have. From my experience PastPerfect is the most popular among small museums in that it’s cheap and straight forward but in 2022 it’s super dated.
21 kwi 2023 · I highly recommend PastPerfect as a software to other museum professionals, especially if they do not currently have software (which is often the care for some small and house museums), because it does make the paperwork and the management of the collections run more smoothly.
