18 lis 2023 · MRI remains the gold standard in the diagnosis of supraspinatus tendon injury. MRI can play an important role in diagnosis as well as in pre-operative planning. It can help in diagnosing the size of the tear, retraction, location of the tear, muscle atrophy, level of fatty infiltration or any other degenerative changes.
Patients will present with shoulder pain and tenderness along the supraspinatus tendon. Many might present with a limited range of motion, especially in abduction. The Jobe test can be performed to elicit any injury to this tendon 2. Atrophy of the muscle may be visible in chronic cases.
The full-thickness component measures 19 x 16mm (LR x TR) and the intact supraspinatus tendon is moderately tendinopathic. The subscromial acromial space is distended with fluid due to free communication with the glenohumeral joint due to the full thickness supraspinatus tear.
23 mar 2022 · On the PDW-image there is a fluid filled gap at the distal insertion of the supraspinatus tendon and contrast extending into the subacromial-subdeltoid space indicating a full thickness tear of the supraspinatus tendon.
Partial- thickness rotator cuff tears most commonly appear as interruption of the normal cuff contour, resulting in a cuff defect filled with fluid signal. The multiplanar capability afforded by MRI allows assessment of the articular, bursal, and intratendinous components of the tear.
26 lut 2022 · Partial thickness rotator cuff tears have been diagnosed with increased frequency due to heightened awareness and an improvement in diagnostic modalities. When >50% of the tendon thickness has ruptured, intra-tendinous strain of the residual tendon increases.
All underwent ultrasound imaging of the supraspinatus tendon with the adducted arm at rest and under maximal isometric abduction. Tendon deformation was dynamically assessed and measured with tendon thickness changes at 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 cm from the tendon insertion.
