19 lip 2021 · The Parowan Gap is just a 15 minute drive from exit 75 on I-15, near the town of Parowan. From the exit take 2200 West and then turn left on Gap road and follow it all the way to the Parowan Gap. You can google map right to it, if you lose your way.
The Parowan Gap Petroglyphs site is a must see and a quick detour from I-15 for those traveling south towards Saint George or north to Salt Lake City. This geologic “gap” cut into a mountain was created by an ancient river that once flowed across this stretch of landscape.
Directions from Parowan, Utah: Travel down Parowan Main Street and turn west on 400 North (Gap Road). Follow this road 8.4 miles to the Dinosaur Tracks (N37° 53' 49", W112° 57' 03"), which are signed and located on the north side of the road.
The pass near Parowan is a classic example of a wind gap, an unusual geological landform marking where an ancient river has cut a 600-foot-deep notch through the Red Hills. Secondly, the gap is a nationally recognized extravaganza of petroglyphs--a superb "gallery" of Native American rock art.
Located close to Interstate 15, the Parowan Gap is a convenient trip for everyone. If you’re into geology, the anticline of the Red Hills and the wind gap are unique. If you dig Native American history the short trip to examine the petroglyphs is totally worth it.
Travel Directions from Cedar City: Travel north on Main Street. Follow Main Street into Enoch and onto the Minersville Highway. Follow this approximately 12.7 miles north, then as directed by the directional sign for the Parowan Gap, turn right (east).
