A VVI pacemaker stimulates and senses in the chamber and if it senses spontaneous ventricular activity (R-wave), it does not stimulate. If the ventricular rate is slower than the base rate, then the pacemaker will pace.

4 cze 2016 · Atrial (AAI) and ventricular inhibited (VVI) pacing modes incorporate sensing on the atrial or ventricular channel, whereas pacemaker stimuli are inhibited by a sensed atrial or ventricular event, respectively.
VVI and AAI pacing are modes in which pulse generation is inhibited when intrinsic activity is sensed. In the diagram above (VVI), a native signal is sensed before the termination of the lower rate limit timer, so the clocks, including absolute and relative refractory periods, are reset completely.
Pacemakers can be programmed to pace and to sense in a bipolar mode (lead tip to lead ring) or a unipolar mode (lead tip to pulse generator). Bipolar sensing is preferred due to its smaller sensing “antenna,” which minimizes oversensing of extracardiac signals.
7 sie 2023 · To facilitate the use and understanding of pacemakers, a standardized classification code has been developed. Most patients can be managed with one of three common modes (AAI, VVI, or DDD), with or without rate responsiveness.
21 cze 2015 · The AAI pacing mode refers to atrial paced, atrial sensed, and inhibition of pacing output in response to an atrial sensed event (P wave), whereas the VVI pacing mode refers to ventricular paced, ventricular sensed, and inhibition of pacing output in response to a ventricular sensed event (R wave).
