Tuition Waiver Benefits. The Tuition Waiver Program provides an opportunity for permanent, full-time (75% FTE or more) faculty and staff to have tuition waived for up to 3 courses taken at any of the constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina system.
Out-of-state students are expected to obtain in-state residency as soon as possible because the University’s out-of-state tuition waiver funds are very limited in number. This means that it is helpful for students to do a few things as soon as they arrive in North Carolina.
UNC Asheville is not required to issue a 1098-T to students whose qualified tuition and related expenses are entirely waived or their scholarships and grants exceed what they paid. If you only attended during a spring semester and your charges were paid in the prior calendar year, then it will be included on the prior year’s 1098-T.
