If you changed the BPM, it should still be recognized as the same map. More than likely, you screwed up the metadata like artist or title of the song, or you changed the beatmap set/map id. If you want, upload the local versions of the maps here, and I'll take a look to see what the problem is.
16 wrz 2007 · Installation: Once a pack has been downloaded, extract the .rar into your osu! Songs directory. All songs are still .zip'd and/or .osz'd inside the pack, so osu! will need to extract the beatmaps itself the next time you go into Play mode.

Just thought I'd put this tip out since it might be useful for those who are updating/fresh installing Windows for the upgrade. There is a program called osu!sync on the forums created by naseweis520 that backs up a list of all of the beatmaps that you currently have and saves it in a file.
The map you are trying to edit is probably using an old unsupported file format or it is corrupted. You can fix this by opening the map in the editor and saving it. This will force osu! to update the map to the latest file format which is compatible with Mapping Tools. A tool broke my map. What do I do?
Click the button that says an update exists, and it will automatically update the map for you or press f5 if you want to reprocess all of your maps.
I've never downloaded beatmap packs onto osu I know how to download them but how do you extract them and put them into osu? if someone can explain would appreciate the help
