Some people play Ironman with the intention of obtaining items fully self-sufficient, or levelling up their stats without trading. Just because you follow a guide to get through the early game the quickest so you can skill or PvM to hunt for items/pets/whatever, it doesn't defeat the entire purpose.
Throughout the guide you will see icons and text colors to help you see important items or notes that you should be aware of: The book icon represents general notes that you should be aware of. The color of the text will be classic OSRS yellow.
The very beginning of an ironman can be intimidating because of the sheer amount of options. I watched a guide to get me a few basics (ardy cloak 1, wintertodt) and then went on my own adventure. I have loved playing my ironman way more than my main. Here's hoping you enjoy the journey!
Ironman Mode is an account type, released on 13 October 2014, that requires the player to be almost entirely self-sufficient. Ironmen are locked out of or restricted in most forms of interactions with other players such as trading, the Grand Exchange, PvP, and almost all other group activities.

Training Slayer on an ironman account is the sole way to upgrade some of the best-in-slot items, make significant money and train combat skills. Many of the key worthwhile items are locked behind Slayer levels for Ironmen, such as the abyssal whip, dragon boots, trident of the seas, occult necklace and dragon hunter lance.
