The only thing that works is to start my mac in Safety Mode and then open Origin, but there I cant play games, because Safety Mode is too weak. How do I get Origin to work again so I can play The Sims.

I have previously used Origin on this computer, but haven't opened it in a few months. Now when I try to open it (via the desktop shortcut, the start menu and direct from the folder), I get a few seconds of the blue "thinking" wheel and then NOTHING. I haven't loaded any new programs in that time.
