Open Water is a 2003 American survival horror thriller film. The story concerns an American couple who go scuba diving while on vacation, only to find themselves stranded miles from shore in shark-filled waters when the crew of their boat accidentally leaves them behind.
It's an indie film with no big names, but that's what makes it so effective. I remember seeing a brief piece on the film on TV when it came out, and apparently the actors had to do all their own swimming, and around a real shark, too. Good film worth recommending, though.

The movie does a good job of making you feel like you know these people even though you aren't given a lot of information about them. And when that boat pulls away, it's just so scary. What could be worse than being trapped in the middle of the ocean?
