1 maj 2019 · To set the timing on that engine, have the s/plugs out, and have the throttle at full, set that timer base under the flywheel tight against the rubber stop on the end of the full spark timer advance stop screw (wire it against that stop if necessary).
In this video we look at how to set timing on an outboard motor using a timing light. We'll look at using timing marks, top dead center and the light to get good ignition timing at idle.
10 maj 2007 · You must stop engine and change setting then restart and check timing. You may need to do this several times to get correct timing. If you static time the engine by cranking but not starting, set timing to 28 deg so running timing will be 30 deg BTDC.
22 lip 2020 · Rig a spark tester and have the gap set to 7/16". Hook up the timing light to the #1 plug wire. Crank the engine over and set the spark advance to 4 less than what the engine calls for.
5 paź 2018 · Timer Base: With the engine NOT RUNNING but in forward gear, have someone advance the throttle slowly from the idle position to full throttle while you observe the timer base. It should advance smoothly throughout that travel range. If it sticks, find out why and correct that restriction.
21 paź 2016 · Start the engine, (with the timing light attached) (carbs at idle) and advance the timing fully. Check and adjust. Yes, the idle will rise some with the advance but not much and you can adjust the WOT advance..
24 sie 2019 · Jason turn the flywheel until the 25 degree BTDC mark on the outside surface of the flywheel lines up with the timing mark, which is a little metal tab shaped like an arrow held on the block with a single screw. Then push the magneto control arm all the way until it hits the full advance stop.
