The game was by all accounts free, and came with a bunch of slopes to play from the get-go. Before each session, you had a little screen, showing your character. You could choose what to wear, from low-resolution camouflage pants, to different styles of helmets, and board decals that might have actually just been ripped from actual brands.
The player can do quite a few things whilst skiing: jumping, performing stunts, knocking other skiers down or just crashing into random obstacles. SkiFree is also well known for the infamous snow monster, which appears at 2000m and eats the player.
