They take 50 minutes to mature, similarly to allotment patches. You can save teleport charges by bringing 8, 12, 16, etc logs with you and an extra 10 seeds per log and just do runs forward/reverse. You can use a Hunter Potion for (+3) boost to build a house 3 levels ahead. It's worth it unless you're dirt broke.
Birdhouse Exp//Am I missing something? Big noob question, as I have only start the birdhouse hunting today. On the OSRS wiki it lists exp rates of 80k+/hr - but each house only gives 560 exp each for every 50 minutes. Surely I am reading the wiki wrong? I watched a guide on YT and did the same thing as he did.
A birdhouse is created by placing a regular bird house item on a bird house space, which requires level 5 Hunter. The birdhouse can be filled with 10 low level hop seeds or herb seeds, or 5 high level herb seeds. When filled with seeds, the birdhouse will passively fill with birds.

The Birdhouses require a hunter level of 5 and a crafting level of 5 to be made, pretty simple requirements. Then you can use logs and a piece of clockwork with a hammer and chisel to make the birdhouse.
There are 4 birdhouse space locations, all located on Fossil Island: two are in the Verdant Valley, one is in the north of the Mushroom Forest, and one is at the entrance to the Tar Swamp. All spaces can be quickly reached using the Mycelium Transportation System.
