This chart displays common abbreviations for many popular English Bible translations. Grade level of readability appears in parenthesis following each translation name. The chart shows whether the apocrypha is included or available for each translation.
These grade levels above are offered as general guidelines, and wherever possible, are taken from information provided by the publishers of the various translations, or the generally accepted grade level or range of grade levels.
English Bible translations vary widely on reading level, with some produced specifically for those who do not speak English as a first language (e.g., Good News Translation, originally published in 1966).
